Middle School Science Teacher

At UCA, teachers take time to build trust-based relationships with each scholar in their classrooms. They lead the people in their classrooms by empowering them to see the world through a lens of gratitude, collaboration, and grit. Academically, teachers use data and curriculum resources to inform differentiated learning. Teachers ensure every scholar is given an equitable opportunity to reach academic big goals (class average of 90% or above on all post tests).

primary RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Cultivate a safe learning environment that is attuned to the real and felt needs of scholars

  • Follow grade specific scope and sequence

  • Use UCA provided template to create weekly lesson plans (most teachers who are new to UCA spend anywhere from 4-8 hours outside of school preparing strategic, data informed lesson plans)

  • Collect, enter and analyze scholar data 

  • Create, plan, and execute science content that helps achieve a 90% class average on post tests

  • Receive feedback with humility and action

  • Self-Reflect on classroom leadership with an internal locus of control and a growth mindset 

  • Utilize school wide systems of behavior management + build relationships with parents and families to create a classroom space of trust and learning

  • Utilize UCA guiding principles to inform trust-based relationships with each student 

  • Establish relationships of trust with scholars’ families / parents through consistent celebrations/opportunities for growth

  • Perform other school-wide duties before and or after school (student supervision)

  • Attend + participate in UCA professional development

Starting sALARY: $35,000

1st/2nd Grade Math Teacher

1st/2nd Grade Reading Teacher

At UCA, teachers take time to build trust-based relationships with each scholar in their classrooms. They lead the people in their classrooms by empowering them to see the world through a lens of gratitude, collaboration, and grit. Academically, teachers use data and curriculum resources to inform differentiated learning. Teachers ensure every scholar is given an equitable opportunity to reach academic big goals (90% of scholars grow at least 3 STEP levels in a UCA school year). 

primary RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Cultivate a safe learning environment that is attuned to the real and felt needs of scholars

  • Attend and implement STEP professional development and training

  • Use UCA provided template to create weekly lesson plans (most teachers who are new to UCA spend anywhere from 4-8 hours outside of school preparing strategic, data informed lesson plans)

  • Collect formal data using STEP system

  • Create, plan, and execute reading content that helps scholars grow 3 STEP levels

  • Receive feedback with humility and action

  • Self-Reflect on classroom leadership with an internal locus of control and a growth mindset 

  • Utilize school wide systems of behavior management + build relationships with parents and families to create a classroom space of trust and learning

  • Utilize UCA guiding principles to inform trust-based relationships with each student 

  • Establish relationships of trust with scholars’ families / parents through consistent celebrations/opportunities for growth

  • Perform other school-wide duties before and or after school (student supervision)

  • Attend + participate in UCA professional development

Academic Interventionst

We deeply believe in giving all scholars the academic support necessary to accelerate scholar growth toward end of year goals. We recognize that scholars are on a continuum and work relentlessly to ensure that scholars receive equitable instruction. The academic interventionist would provide scholars with strategic, targeted small group instruction with scholar friendly feedback and continuous progress monitoring toward goals. Academic interventionists work closely with classroom teachers and collect relevant data to ensure that instruction is focused, strategic, and equitable. The person in this position must be a creative, strategic problem solver who utilizes innovative thinking and relevant data to challenge scholars to achieve individualized academic goals.

primary RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Empowers scholars in small groups to meet end of year academic goals

  • Collects relevant data to inform instruction by using school wide assessments

  • Uses instructional minutes equitably by creating strategic small groups maximizing intervention time

  • Uses time outside of school to prepare for instruction at school

  • Receive feedback with humility and action

  • Self-Reflect on small group leadership with an internal locus of control and a growth mindset 

  • Utilize school wide systems of behavior management + build relationships with parents and families to create a classroom space of trust and learning

  • Utilize UCA guiding principles to inform trust-based relationships with each student 

  • Establish relationships of trust with scholars’ families / parents through consistent celebrations/opportunities for growth

  • Perform other school-wide duties before and or after school (student supervision)
